Car enthusiasts are constantly searching for ways to make their vehicles perform better in modern times. And companies keep designing and introducing such technologies which improve cars' performance. And DPF, an acronym for diesel particulate filter, is one such technology. To adhere to the Euro 5 standards, companies have been required to install DPF in cars since 2009.

A DPF is a modification installed in a car's exhaust system to filter soot accumulated in an enclosed space inside the exhaust system. The stored soot then gets burnt in a regeneration cycle of the vehicle.

Although it's an environment-friendly process, it comes with its fair share of cons. The fuel economy is reduced, and horsepower gets compromised. Also, a clogged DPF might pose severe threats to a car's engine as well.

So, unclogging a DPF would need experts' support which would cost hundreds of dollars and would take some days during which one can't drive one's car.

But there's a simple solution: DPF delete!

DPF Delete Explained

DPF delete allows the car to work even without a functioning DPF. The DPF kits available in the market have both the exhaust & tuner in them, which take care of DPF and its technology that alters the lookup values.

But DPF Delete's compatibility with the vehicle is a must. And the process requires an expert to take care of it during installation.

Why DPF Delete is Beneficial

Removal of DPF is incomprehensible given its benefits to the environment. But what people don't realize is the widespread benefits that one could get after its removal. These may include:

  • fewer chances of engine damage
  • improved fuel economy
  • enhanced horsepower
  • better engine performance

Let's discuss some of these in detail.

1. Improve fuel mileage

Installation of DPF Delete helps unclog the engine by removing the accumulated soot. This results in a smooth fuel flow leading to better pocket-friendly consumption.

2. Boost Horsepower

The exhaust process gets delayed due to all the clogging. DPF delete lets more air enter the combustion chamber, thus leading to powerful combustion. This results in better horsepower generation.

3. Reduce Maintenance and Replacement Costs

All the checking and removing of accumulated soot increases the maintenance costs substantially. So, once DPF is removed, one doesn't have to worry about its maintenance at all.

Why You Need Professional Help

To be honest, the removal of DPF is a pretty technical task. And if one is not aware of the ins and outs of one's car, it is advisable to seek professional expertise. Because every car type is different with different positions of DPF, which is somewhat tricky to get to, sometimes, all one needs to do is unbolt the exhaust, whereas other car types might require removing the front subframe.

And even if one figures out how to do it on one's own, it's not something one would enjoy doing. Many factors are to be considered, but mainly the ECU signals danger when removing DPF. So, different approaches are there to control ECU to get past through the ministry of transport testers. Some people use capacitors, some detach the DPF sensors from ECU, and some do the spanner job. All these tricks can do the work.

But the point is that is it worth it to take everything into one's own hands if one can hire a professional to do all the messy work for a reasonable amount of money. Experts think that taking professional help is better to cover it all up. One will get short of several hundred dollars, but it's a one-time investment, so it's worth it.
